It's time our government became representative. #ProportionalRepresentation #ProRep #FairSeats #EndTheDuopoly #MultipartyAmerica

I think it’s likely time to get proportional representation back on the table. Allow people to be represented by parties that represent their views and values. The days of monolithic political control are coming to an end. Not congruent with reality anymore.

Very few Congressional elections are competitive between the two establishment parties. No alternative party candidate has been elected to Congress since 1970. Fair, inclusive multiparty representation requires proportional representation voting systems. theurbanist.org/2022/04/07/u…

Tired of voting for “the lesser of two evils”? With #ProportionalRepresentation (PR), you can vote your values and still help elect someone. More choices. More voices. More power to you, California. #ProRep #ElectoralReform #EndTheDuopoly #FairSeats #MultipartyAmerica

Our biggest issues—healthcare, housing, environment, cost of living—are all tied to how we vote. As long as politicians cater to swing voters in a few competitive seats, real solutions won’t come. Proportional representation is key to a democracy that works for everyone.

I miss Reagan. At least he favored smaller government in his economic policy. If we had a multi-party system via #ProportionalRepresentation, Reagan Republicans could form a party with Bill Clinton Democrats and still win seats. #ProRep #MultipartyAmerica #EndTheDuopoly

Because the media landscape is as polarized as the electorate. Thank you very much, two-party system! #ProportionalRepresentation #ProRep #EndTheDuopoly #EndPolarization #ElectoralReform #MultipartyAmerica #FairSeats

Yep. Duopolies provides a very low bar of competition. A multi-party system creates better incentives for higher quality policymaking. #ProportionalRepresentation #ProRep #EndTheDuopoly #MultipartyAmerica
One problem with the two-party system is that you can do nothing and the other side will screw up so badly that you get a shot again - and then you screw it up so badly that they get a shot, rinse and repeat.

This is exactly right. Single-member districts are inherently winner-take-all and do not allow for fair representation of anybody except the largest bloc of voters. Only #ProportionalRepresentation will accomplish that. #ProRep #EndTheDuopoly #FairSeats #MultipartyAmerica
The problem in this instance isn't FPTP per se, it's single-member districts. But yes, proportional representation is what we need (and multi-member districts are how we get there).

California is one of the most diverse places in the world—so why doesn’t our legislature reflect that? #ProportionalRepresentation ensures fair representation for all communities. Let’s make democracy work for everyone. #ProRep #EndTheDuopoly #FairSeats #MultipartyAmerica

Absolutely bro. Keep your chin up. The push for proportional representation is the key to dismantling the two-party system. Once that’s in place, you can vote for a party that actually aligns with your perspective

Decentralizing power amongst many parties reduces the chances that any one party takes full control of everything. #ProportionalRepresentation #ProRep #EndTheDuopoly #MultipartyAmerica #FairSeats

The US political system is a two party system, where only one party has any overall control at any one time. Replaced that with a modern Proportional Representation system and the rise of an elected dictator could easily have been dealt with.

Indeed, it's almost as if the two parties are *afraid* of the competition that #ProportionalRepresentation would bring... #ProRep #ElectoralReform #EndTheDuopoly #MultipartyAmerica
If Democrats and Republicans are so confident that voters love their policies, they should have no problem enacting proportional representation and letting other parties compete. Real democracy means real choice.

Better solution is to switch to statewide proportional representation. No more districts means no more gerrymandering, and it'll also allow third parties to actually win seats, meaning no more uniparty.

Don't you deserve to have the ability to vote for a candidate that you *really* like and who also has a realistic chance of winning a seat? #ProportionalRepresentation would provide that. #ProRep #MultiPartyAmerica #EndTheDuopoly #EndPolarization #FairSeats #ElectoralReform
So we are often left voting for the candidate most likely to be the lesser of the evils. Some form of proportional representation might be a step in the right direction,

Establishing proportional representation in for the House of Representatives and state legislatures should be a top priority; the two-party system has created political monopolies that abuse their position to govern poorly.
