Bizarrely the @daera_ni officials didn’t even bother to turn up - not sure that @AndrewMuirNI was aware, but the scrutiny of EU Reg’s so far has been patchy to say the least. Not helped when @niexec departments fail to help (or even show up). Maybe E Mails were deleted….🤔🤔🤔
Yesterday, the Committee considered EU Regulation 2024/1143 on geographical indications for wine, spirit drinks and agricultural products and decided to hold an inquiry. You can watch the session at niassembly.tv

@ChrisNICCY highlighting poverty is a political decision. Scotland has increased the child payment from £20 to £25 recognising rise in costs, let's start there. Shameful that NIExec has not prioritised antipoverty strategy and allowed child poverty to continue to increase!

Twitter algorithms all over the place as only seeing this now. Well said Patrick. Beyond reprehensible SoS has failed to act. But not altogether unexpected. Understand within the remit of the SoS to put Bill before Parliament as no OFMDFM/NIExec.

Yet another group of traumatised survivors and victims let down by the dysfunctional @niexecutive Their @recovery_truth report which ministers committed to implementing sits on a shelf while @BMATCFJ are back in limbo NIexec @HeadNICS should urgently announce an inquiry chair
Political Dysfunction at the @niexecutive leaves #motherandbabyhomes clients ‘let down’ @BMATCFJ in frustrating mess after a long campaign for truth and justice and #redress @MckeeganClaire stated ‘ministers made cast iron commitments to our clients which government must honour’

"Refusing to form @NIExecutive does not in any way address/alter issues around #NIProtocol Refusing to establish NIExec now is wrong, as it was on the last occasion. People expect their politicians to now work together on challenges that affect all the people in NI" 3/

Of course the EU only cares about whether there is a pro-Protocol majority, even if that is mostly animus towards the DUP and/or UK. That the NIExec is based on ‘consensus’ doesn’t seem to cross its mind. And there is no Exec without substantial (total) change to Protocol.

5/ In other words, Downing Street has not paused to assess the result of the Assembly Elections, which returned 54 pro-Protocol MLAs out of 90, before going ahead to "rip up" the Protocol and blame the EU

It's an international treaty obligation: an excepted matter. Delivery can be devolved, but the legal duty to comply remains on UKG, which can overrule NIExec if in breach (1998 Act). But then Brandon defended breaking international law "in a very specific and limited way”...
“This is a matter for the Northern Ireland Executive. It is something that is within their legal remit.” NI Secretary @BrandonLewis - speaking on ITV’s @peston

I’d really rather that instead of being reminded by some of the people whose party lines directly cause so much hurt here, that they were more open and transparent about what they and NIExec are doing to find funding and build frameworks for better mental health services in NI.
It's #WorldMentalHealthDay and a good time to start making mental health part of our everyday conversations. If you’re finding things tough, please talk to someone about how you’re feeling. If you’re in distress or despair, you can call Lifeline 24/7 on 0808 808 8000

The scary thing is the NIExec need to lift the restrictions but they are too busy finding new ways of disagreeing with eachother. It could roll on. Media needs to be drawing more attention to it

The @niexec should be given equal rights to trigger Art 16 as both EU/Westminster have. Neither the EU or @michaelgove have acted fast enough to deal with growing trade debacle hitting NI - we must have a say in our own economy & food security @JP_Biz @BrandonLewis @uuponline

@niexec & @DUPleader confirmed to me via FoI request that NO impact assessments have been carried out on any of their interventions in N Ireland. They cannot claim that any of them have had any net benefit, because it's never been measured. Criminal recklessness.

@DUPleader should be starting with telling ‘Joint Partnership Council’ that the @niexec should be able to call Art 16 suspensions, but that would imply @duponline being over ‘jot & tittle’ over the detail.. if EU & @BorisJohnson serious about protecting BA, why wait 4 long years?
.@DUPleader tells Andrew Marr she hopes the @niassembly will vote to leave the new Brexit arrangements in four years time. Sidesteps any suggestion of a border in the Irish Sea.

This doesn’t get any better - many NI hauliers doing multiple movements N/S a day - never mind 2 in 7 days. There is a strong case for derogation if @niexec could exercise any influence at the Joint Committee (though haven’t seen any evidence of that yet) @JP_Biz

Under the terms of the UK-EU deal lorry drivers from NI can do two cabotage movements in the Republic in a 7 day period. (Cabotage is the loading and unloading of goods between 2 points in a country by a vehicle that is not registered in that country.)

Travel ban as proposed by SF was illogical & also threatened to undermine our vital logistics Ferry & Air routes. This obsession with a ‘1 island’ approach to everything goes in the face of the reality of our complex integrated ‘all-islands’ system @niexec voted for right option
Sinn Féin proposal to introduce a travel ban from GB urgently voted down by the executive - SF and SDLP voted in favour but other three parties voted against

Could you ask them to publicly stare that the likes of doing for a walk after 8pm is still allowed as some will wrongly think they can’t with how poorly the NIExec- especially Swann- communicates. There’s no need for unnecessary misunderstandings.
