The One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative, launched on 1 January 2025, is expanding access to global scholarly knowledge across India's higher education and research ecosystem. Through ONOS: ➡️ More than 6,000 higher education and research institutes now have access to over 13,000 journal titles from major international publishers and research platforms. ➡️ Researchers can benefit from dedicated Open Access publishing support through allocated funding mechanisms. ➡️ Scholarly content can be accessed remotely through the Indian Access Management Federation (INFED), making research resources available beyond campus boundaries. ➡️ The platform supports interdisciplinary inquiry by bringing together resources spanning science, technology, medicine, social sciences, humanities, and management. ➡️ Researchers at institutions in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, as well as those in remote regions, can access the same high-quality academic literature available at leading national institutions. By widening access to knowledge and reducing barriers to scholarly resources, ONOS is helping create a more inclusive, connected, and research-driven academic landscape across India.

Building on this vision and the #NEP2020, the Government has launched a historic initiative - One Nation One Subscription (#ONOS). From 1st January 2025, #ONOS has been operational, giving 1.8 crore students, researchers, and faculty across central and state government institutions seamless access to the world’s finest scholarly journals. What was earlier scattered across multiple costly consortia like E-Shodh Sindhu, NKRC, DRDO, DAE, and others has now been unified under a single national license covering 30 top international publishers. The gateway to this “goldmine of knowledge” is the ONOS Portal (onos.gov.in/), coordinated by INFLIBNET Centre, UGC. For the first time, researchers from even tier-2 and tier-3 cities are enjoying world-class access, enabling both core and interdisciplinary research. Approved for 2025–2027 in Phase I, ONOS is already reshaping India’s research ecosystem. It is not just about subscriptions - it is about Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat@2047, bringing global knowledge directly to the doorstep of every Indian scholar.
