There has been a lot of talk about Basil Rajapaksa's supposed outburst at a meeting with President Ranil. While that may be true, it's unlikely to change anything come the election.
MR cheated to deny RW the presidency in 2005. RW told Japan to suspend funding for Sri Lanka in 2007. RW defeated MR in 2015 by poaching his own general secretary. MR usurped RW for 52 days in 2018. The list goes on.
But none of these events have affected the fundamental trust they have in each other. If anybody looks up the terms "symbiotic relationship" or "marriage of convenience" in the dictionary, they would find pics of MR and RW holding hands.
When we get close to October, they will put aside their differences, if RW agrees to contest. SLPP will face a humiliating defeat if it fields any candidate other than RW, and RW can't even hope to put up a fight against Sajith and AKD without SLPP support. #SriLanka #lka
