You rock for doing this & posting it. An elected official modeling being a good neighbor is awesome! When was the last time a Mayor & councilmembers tried to mobilize all of Washington for a District-wide trash clean up in collaboration with @DCDPW @DCDGS @DCDPR, with prizes & incentives & awards? Like the “snowcrew,” but for refuse, with community service credit? Can you draft & post a public proposal for upgrading existing cans, starting with @opendatadc data set that maps out what infrastructure exists, & estimates the cost of replacing them, & public health benefits of doing so? Could adding lids & rain bonnets to existing cans now curb household dumping? Long term, what would installing more solar-powered, rat-proof compacting cans in high-density residential areas cost, alongside the steady expansion we’re seeing in high-traffic mixed use areas like the @TheWharfDC or @TheYardsDC ? cronkitenews.azpbs.org/2017/…

It's not really the vast majority...in fact, with all the growth in NoMa and Navy Yard and the relative stasis in Wards 2 and 3, I am pretty sure it's not a majority anymore period. I am annoyed that @opendatadc doesn't have that as a layer so I can confirm for sure.

This project was only possible because of terrific and free resources from @opendatadc, @wmata, OpenTripPlanner, @LeafletJS, and more (and the campaign @perkinsms and I ran in 2008 to get open WMATA data).

Yeah, as @infinitebuffalo said even with the moving violations and crash data all loaded into a relational database, the best we can do with the public data is make an educated guess 😕 I might have one of our RAs do some digging into this one bc I’m also curious!

You can filter 'crashes in DC' by date, though the interface is pretty rough. there were app. 47 crashes on 3/12/22, resulting in minor injuries to 6 drivers, 4 passengers, and 2 pedestrians. 7 involved a single vehicle, 3 three vehicles, and one 5 (!). No plate states, though.
