In addition to R and Matlab plots I have also used GraphPad (not open source). It requires no coding experience. When imputing your data it can be a bit confusing but you can make nice and easy adjustments to the graphs and layouts in comparison to SPSS.

Try RAWGraphs! I discovered this tool in one of the newsletters of @BeinkScience

Try out Tableau and thank me later 🙂

Bring questions! Ask what the lab/program culture is like, ask if they would be willing to let you pursue projects that aren't quite in their line of research. I actually wrote about it. Good luck!! drmarinaharris.com/post/phd-…

When you meet with a potential PhD advisor, show that you have read some of their work. Talk about why you are interested in that work, and what you hope to do with a PhD. Ask about their mentoring approach. Use the meeting as a chance to see if they are a good fit. Good luck!

You could also ask what advice they would give their previous selves as PhD candidates, based on their knowledge now, what they like about your project, how much progress they expect you to make per semester, what funding is available, etc.

I asked mine a few basic questions in terms of what they expect from me, how often they want updates on my work schedule and drafts. I've also asked what they have found makes PhD candidates successful and what makes a project stand out to them.

...if these are implications for policy or practice then I would put these in your conclusion

Are they implications for research or practice? If research then I would explore in depth in your discussion and then re-emphasise in conclusion as this will help situate and justify the novelty, significance and robustness of your academic contribution...

Do you have any guidelines for writing implications of your research? Would implications fit in a discussion item, or conclusion item? @profmarkreed @raulpacheco @phdwriteup @PhDForum @PhdNotepad
