We would like to correct some of the terminology used in the report, as it does not accurately reflect the political reality on the ground. Referring to the Southern Transitional Council as “separatist” is an unfair characterization that does not represent its true position. The Council is the political representative of the Southern cause and is mandated by popular support to pursue the restoration of the full sovereign Southern state as it existed prior to 1990. Likewise, the use of the term “protests” does not accurately describe the nature of these events. They are not conventional protests, but rather large-scale popular mobilizations expressing a structured national will and a clear political demand for recognition of the Southern identity and the renewal of political mandate for leadership represented by Aidarous al-Zubaidi. What is taking place on the ground is a sustained and organized popular movement, reflecting a consistent collective awareness rather than momentary demonstrations. It is a continuation of a political process that began with the Aden Declaration and has since been reinforced through successive stages of popular mandate. Accordingly, we emphasize the importance of professional and neutral media reporting, free from politically loaded terminology that distorts facts and misrepresents the Southern position. We affirm to the international community that the mass mobilization on the 4th of May, marking the anniversary of the Aden Declaration and the renewal of the mandate for the Southern Transitional Council, represents a clear reaffirmation of the Southern people’s will and their commitment to the restoration of a fully sovereign Southern Arab state.
