🚨 Help Build Oklahoma’s Largest Citizen-Powered News Network 🚨
The People’s Press of Oklahoma is looking for volunteers in all 77 counties to help bring local news back to local communities.
Too many important stories never get covered. City council meetings. School board decisions. County government actions. Local corruption. Community victories. Public safety concerns. Small-town events. The stories that affect everyday Oklahomans often go unnoticed because traditional media simply isn’t there anymore.
We want to change that.
Our goal is ambitious: recruit at least ONE correspondent from each of Oklahoma’s 77 counties and build a statewide network dedicated to informing the public and increasing transparency.
Who Should Volunteer?
🎓 Students interested in journalism, communications, political science, law, public policy, or media who want real-world experience.
👴 Retirees looking for a meaningful hobby, a way to stay involved in their community, and a chance to make a difference.
🔍 Researchers, watchdogs, and those legendary “keyboard warriors” who already spend hours digging through public records, government documents, court filings, and social media.
📸 Community members who always seem to know what’s happening before everyone else.
📰 Anyone who believes local communities deserve honest reporting and that transparency matters.
You do NOT need a journalism degree. You do NOT need professional experience. You simply need integrity, curiosity, and a desire to help keep your community informed.
