Attending conferences, special events, & traveling for work were the 3 places I felt the most vulnerable during my time in the corporate world 💯
Along with my own experiences, I've borne witness to countless stories of women (and a few men) who have suffered rape, sexual assault, harassment, and abuse of every kind - and I will continue to hold space, stand up, and use my voice to say ENOUGH 🛑
Protecting our community is on ALL of us, not just women. Take action by:
💡 Having conversations with your colleagues & friends to game plan, share locations, itineraries, and check-in times
💡 Choosing a "conference buddy" and going in pairs or groups to the various happy hours, parties, & pre/post events - especially off-site
💡 Recognize that everyone's nervous system responds to threats differently: Fight, Flight, Freeze, & Fawn states are distinct & often visible, if you know what you're looking for
💡 Don't drink something you didn't watch being poured - when in doubt, dump it out!! Drink bottled water that you open yourself, stay hydrated, and trust your instincts
💡 If you see something, say something or interrupt what's happening. Ask a friend to help, and stay alert & aware of your surroundings
If you see me at a conference, please know that I am a safe person who's ready to help, regardless of the situation - if you are too, comment "I'm a helper!"
If you need support, have a question, or need to have a confidential conversation, my DM's are always open 💌
Please like, share, comment, and start talking about this issue with your peers, and let's all take better care of each other 💗
