As one living in this area for 20 years, I have heard that no water is available from known sources of supply (lakes around Pune). Under THESE circumstances with no morotorium on construction, is it not mandatory to go in for conservation methods such as RWH? If Coimbatore can do so, why not Maharashtra to alleviate the suffering of its citizens. At the present rate of construction the gap between Demand and Supply of water will keep increasing month after month, unless serious thought is put into for this grave issue. 🛞 May we request PMC and the Ministry for Water resources (Central & State) to conduct a feasibility study and expeditiously work out an economic method to install such a system to capture Rain Water presently going waste. 🛞 We are well aware of numerous Amenity spaces in our vicinity as required by law for general purposes. A pilot project can be done on such plots with a reservoir to collect water, store and supply WATER to neighbouring areas, could be done and then replicated all over Pune. 🛞 A public -private participation can be considered for funding such a project. Corporates have CSR funds available which can be put to use for the community through such noble causes. 🛞 A political will is necessary to tap such non-conventional methods to better the lot of tax paying citizens investing hard earned monies in dwellings. 🛞 All Developers should be roped in to be realistic and create an environment so that such conservation of a natural resource takes place. We live in hope but at the moment totally disheartened by the existing system which assists 'a nexus of various lobbies' who are exploiting the people at large. A city like Pune once regarded as the haven for retired people is becoming unliveable. PLEASE PONDER OVER THE SUGGESTIONS AND WORK OUT SOLUTIONS WHICH ARE A NEED OF THE HOUR. The future generations will not forgive our present lapses.
