中国にて、OrangePiからNVidiaのProjectDIGITSと競合しそうなすごそうなミニPCが出るという。中身はファーウェイのAtlas300IDuoとかいう推論ボードを積んでる。CPUは8x1.9GHzのARM。なんとメモリを192GBも積んでる！メモリ最大限爆積みMacStudio並み！（DIGITSは128GB）そしてメモリ帯域は408GB/s！M4Maxのチョイ下くらい！（DIGITSは未発表だけど多分250GB/s程度）AI性能は352TOPSでRTX4060Ti並みで、多分MacStudioと同等。（FP8なのかFP4なのか不明。DIGITSはFP4で1000TOPS）そして価格は2150ドルだって（DIGITSは3000ドル）ただし今んとこ中国でしか買えないぽい。額面上のスペックはメモリ192GB積んだM4Maxという感じだけど、M4MaxのMacBookProにメモリ128GB積むと75万円してしまうのに対してこのミニPCは30万程度で済む。AI性能ではDIGITSにかなり劣るけどメモリ帯域幅とメモリ量ではかなり勝ってる。ローカルLLM推論でかなり火を噴きそうなスペック。とは言えCUDAやら使えないだろうし、ソフトウェアのサポートが貧弱だと結局何も動かせないで終わるかもしれない。 reddit.com/r/LocalLLaMA/comm…

Hledal jsem pro zajímavost výkonnostní ekvivalent novinky @nvidia #ProjectDigits v oblasti nejrychlejších superpočítačů své doby a nejvíc se mu blíží @IBM Blue Gene/L, někde mezi původní konfigurací z roku 2005 v jeho pozdější konfiguraci z roku 2007 (jen v objemu paměti jej významněji překonával, ale ta zas byla o dost pomalejší...). Celý systém tehdy stál 290 milionů dolarů, zabíral 232 m2, spotřebu měl 1,4MW. Project Digits se vejde na dlaň, napájíte ho z domácí zásuvky a stojí 3000 dolarů. Tohle je posun za 20 let. A to je jen hardware. K tomu vezměte změny v algoritmech za stejné období - hluboké strojové učení, vznik generativních adversariálních sítí, představení architektury Transformer, abych jmenoval jen některé. Dostali jsme se do stádia, kdy jak ty algoritmy tak ten hardware navrhuje sama umělá inteligence a nárůst schopností tak pokračuje exponenciální řadou. Ani samotní lidští návrháři/vývojáři těchto technologií už vlastně netuší, proč něco funguje. A dostáváme se do dalších iterací, kdy AI už dokáže třeba navrhnovat i zcela nové materiály na základě požadovaných vlastností - před 6 dny @Microsoft představil a uvolnil pod open licencí technologii #MatterGen, která přesně tohle umí a počítače budoucnosti tak možná budou i vytvořené z materiálů, které dnes neexistují. Ten vývoj je přitom naprosto nezastavitelný a tak jak kdysi tu dvě velmoci závodily ve zbrojení a dobývání vesmíru, dnes (především) US a Čína závodí v AI a nikdo z nich nemůže přestat z obav před tím druhým. Hodně se řešilo, kdy nastane singularita - hypotetický budoucí bod, kdy umělá inteligence překoná lidskou inteligenci a začne se nekontrolovatelně a nevratně rozvíjet. Podle mě už jsme ji vlastně dosáhli. Jen si to ještě neuvědomujeme. Což je ovšem přesně v souladu s tím, jak o tom před 20 lety psal třeba Raye Kurzweil "The Singularity Is Near" nebo co zmiňovali Erik Brynjolfsson, Andrew McAfee v knize Druhý věk strojů: Práce, pokrok a prosperita v éře špičkových technologií (kde se zaměřují na pozitivní aspekty). Lidé mají stále pocit, že to řídí, ale svým způsobem už nás vlastně AI používá jen jako zdroj pro doplnění svých znalostí (tam už ale zná prakticky vše), ruce na svou výrobu (ale už se začínají pomalu nabízet schopné robotické náhrady) a další ruce a zdroje pro těžbu uhlí, nerostů, stavby továren, servis, financování a vůbec vše ostatní, co souvisí s tím, aby se AI mohla rozvíjet. Včera se třeba podepsal #ProjectStargate - pod patronátem OpenAI, za podpory US vlády, zajištění financování rozvoje AI a jenom na tenhle jeden projekt půjde ročně tolik peněz, jako je polovina rozpočtu České republiky. Peněz generovaných lidmi na pozemky, stavby, stroje, elektřinu... vše produkované lidmi. Stali jsme se otroky AI?
