Pruning Deciduous Shrubs that Bloom on Second-Year Wood…GrownByYou    Prune these shrubs wrong…and you'll have no flowers.    Flowering deciduous shrubs divide into two groups, one pruned in autumn and another pruned after they flower and produce seed.🌿 Gardeners know the class for each type by observing or researching whether they flower on buds that form on newly growing branches or on wood from the prior year.🌿 For example, winter-blooming camellias and spring-blooming azaleas, rhododendrons, and many but not all climbing roses are best pruned shortly after their blooms fade, in mid to late spring.🌿    Learn more about the right time to prune your shrubs, at this link: 🔗grownbyyou.com/growing-trees… GrownByYou: We Show You How.℠ #shrubs #decidousshrubs #floweringshrubs #pruningshrubs #pruning #whentoprune #howtoprune #pruningtips #GardeningX

Time's up little flower! Deadheading is such an unpleasant fate for what once was a beautiful blossom. For the health of the overall plant and to promote new blooms, deadhead regularly—it is an easy task. If you wait until the spent blossoms set seeds, most annuals and some perennials including repeat-blooming roses stop producing new flowers. Remove the spent flowers to extend the bloom period of most plants and give them a well-cared-for, neat appearance. Simply pinch off the flower head with your fingers, or use a pair of sharp bypass pruners for thick, woody stems. Our experts demonstrate step-by-step deadheading at the link.🔗 GrownByYou: We Show You How.℠ grownbyyou.com/growing-flowe… #GardeningX #pruningtips #pruning #deadheading #deadheadingflowers #deadheadingtips #deadheadingplants #pinchprune #pinchpruning

Training a container tree or shrub with espalier—a special combination of pruning and training techniques—is an interesting way to provide decor for your deck, patio, or an appropriate, sunny room in your home. Whether inside or outside, at some point the tree or shrub will need to be repotted or transplanted into your landscape. In this example a simple latice was inserted into the root ball and then selected branches were trained onto the lattice with elastic grafting tape. For trees indoors, remember to protect floors with a waterproof catch basin to avoid staining.🌿 GrownByYou: We Show You How.℠ grownbyyou.com/growing-trees… #gardening #espalier #gardenideas #houseplants #indoortrees #PruningTips #treecare #ficus #ficusbenjamina
