Did you know dinosaur fossils have been discovered in Pakistan?
In this video, Dr. Muhammad Mustafa, Joint Secretary of Khwarizmi Science Society, speaks about a remarkable handmade exhibit of Pakisaurus, a dinosaur identified from fossil remains found in Balochistan, at Lahore Science Mela 2025’s Surpriseum (Hairat Ghar). Since only a few bones have been discovered, student Hasaan Javed, recipient of the Al Beruni Scholarship, led a team that carefully researched and made a scaled reconstruction of what the full dinosaur may have looked like.
The model took three months to complete and reflects dedication, scientific study, and creative interpretation. This project shows how student research, mentorship, and hands-on learning can transform fossil evidence into meaningful science education and public engagement.
An inspiring example of how local discovery and young talent can strengthen interest in natural history and science in Pakistan.
