Talked about data agents beyond SQL at @pydatalondon today. Files, video, sensors, metadata, Python workflows - all the messy stuff where real data work happens. Thanks everyone who came by 🙌

🚀 #DataScience #PyDataLondon #AI

Make sure to stick around for @summerscope's talk on Sunday: "The human in the loop is tired". Laura will look into what actually feels like to work with code in the age of AI. Good, bad, and whimsical. Based her most popular blogpost: pydantic.dev/articles/the-hu…

Speaking at @pydatalondon this week - Saturday June 6. Talk: "Using coding agents with open models" Coding agents like Cursor and Claude Code are genuinely changing how we build software. But most teams still run them on proprietary models by default - not always because open models aren't good enough, but because pairing the two takes a bit of work to get right. That is exactly what I’ll be showing. We’ll use open models running on @nebiustf , plug them into coding agents, and look at what actually matters in practice: Developer experience, Model behavior, Setup patterns, Best practices. Live demos - not just slides. And yes, attendees will get platform credits so you can try it yourself after the session. If you’re at PyData London, come say hi. Bring your questions, your coding-agent war stories, and your opinions on open models. 📍 Convene Sancroft, St. Paul's · Grand Hall 2 🗓️ June 6 · 16:15–17:00 🔗 pretalx.com/pydata-london-20… #pydata #pydatalondon

I will be talking about evaluating AI systems in my talk tomorrow for @pydatalondon , "Death by RMSE: A Cautionary Tale of Metrics Gone Wild" "You’ve trained the model. The eval metrics look great. But somehow, it doesn't change anything — the KPIs are static, the business impact isn’t there, and you’re left wondering: DID WE OPTIMISE FOR THE WRONG THING?" meetup.com/pydata-london-mee…

Quite pleased to see the emphasis on evaluating and not just delivering AI pilots, and comparing that to what *actually happens now* - we should be working to understand exactly where and how AI works in government, not whether or not it's perfect.
