Industrial Site Visit to NIDEC, Dharwad As part of the course CE306 – Design of Steel Structures, handling by Dr. Ramesh Nayaka, the third-year B. Tech Civil and Infrastructure Engineering students undertook an industrial site visit to the NIDEC project located at KIDB, Belur Industrial Area, Dharwad. The visit was organized with the objective of providing students with hands-on exposure to real-world steel construction practices and enhancing their understanding of structural behavior beyond classroom learning. During the visit, students gained practical insights into detailing of critical steel connections such as beam–column joints, bolted and welded connections, and bracing systems. Interactions with project manager and safety engineers offered valuable perspectives on design implementation, quality control measures, safety practices, and construction challenges encountered in large-scale industrial projects.
