On 30th July, NCPEDP conducted a session on “The Role of Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in Advocating for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities” at the NAB Dwarka Campus in Delhi. The session was part of the Udaan Interns’ Annual Meet, organised by @senseindia , a member of the National Disability Network. Facilitated by NCPEDP's Ananya and Vamika, the session brought together 20 adults with deafblindness, each accompanied by their support person. The participants had just completed a structured four-month internship focused on communication, self-advocacy, and workplace readiness. The session focused on how OPDs create spaces for persons with disabilities to organise, speak up, and influence policies that affect their lives. My Big Dive at the Summit of the Future in New York 🎉🤝 Dear friends, I'm in New York for the Future Summit, where I'll be speaking soon! In 2022, this dream began to come true when I spoke at the Regional Seminar on Human Rights in Nairobi, invited by the @UNHumanRights the office of UN Commissioner for Human Rights. The 17th United Nations Conference on the Rights of the World Community with Disabilities came to an end with high hopes for the future. Sri Lanka got the chairmanship of the 18th and 19th international conferences planned to be held in 2025 and 2026, which would definitely be an honor we received as a country.
