She was upset because her meetings booked quota had changed. Here's how I told her to turn it into a promotion. If you're in a BDR or SDR role and you just had your sales quota changed, it's easy to feel really frustrated like you've had the rug pulled out from under you! But one thing I would encourage is to see if there's a huge opportunity in your situation. What I told the BDR who reached out to me is that there's a big opportunity. Any time a lot of the sales org has a bad attitude, it can indicate a fair amount of churn in the coming months. And with that churn comes opportunities to get promoted into a suddenly open AE role. If she goes in, has a really good attitude, and works hard, there's a huge opportunity for her to get promoted in 3 or 6 months. That's how you can turn a negative situation into an opportunity. Many lucky opportunities in my life have turned out to be traps that distracted me from my real goals. And often in my life I've found the bad things that happen to me are actually hidden blessings and opportunities!
