In Chemistry & in Society: Some compounds give life, some cause destruction. Let’s see which symbolizes communal harmony & which stands for communal hate. 🧪⚖️ A thread 🧵 👇 1. Water (H₂O) 💧 Hydrogen Oxygen = Life. Two very different elements, yet in harmony they sustain the world. 👉 That’s communal harmony. TNT 💣 Looks stable, but one spark and everything explodes. 👉 That’s communal hate. #ChemistryOfSociety #ScienceMeetsLife #Thread

In my opinion, some relationships are like mitosis, starting together, slowly dividing, then both growing into their own. Same DNA, but a new chapter..🙂 #ScienceMeetsLife @MitosisOrg

🗣️Have you ever heard of caustic soda? You might have seen this chemical substance on the back side of the many household cleaning products, especially those designed to tackle tough grime, grease, and clogs. But, did you know that it's also being used in the foods and food industry? Don't be shocked. It's true. Read more to learn more.👇🏼👇🏼 💡🗣️Caustic soda is a chemical compound which is also known as sodium hydroxide, and is often found in various household and industrial applications. When you think of cleaning agents, think of caustic soda. It's an important element in many drain cleaners or oven cleaners. The power of this solution is that it can dissolve the greases and oils with minimal amounts by breaking them into simpler compounds that can be washed away with water. The interesting fact is that its applications are beyond the kitchen sink. Sodium hydroxide solution has also been used in heavy duty cleaning, paper manufacturing, or even in the soap and detergent production. Now, let's talk about food. You might be surprised, but sodium hydroxide plays an interesting role here too. It is used in processing olives to remove bitterness and in peeling of fruits and vegetables for easy removal. It's also being used in some dishes to give it a shiny and brown crust. Food-grade caustic soda must be used under strictly controlled conditions to ensure safety, as it is a powerful chemical that, in high concentrations, can be corrosive and harmful if ingested or if it comes in direct contact with skin or eyes. As I always say, Never take any chemical substances for granted. Always give priority to its properties, hazards and others as appropriate, prior to handling such substances. You must refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet of the respective chemicals for safety guidelines, issued by manufacturers. It must be handled with care due to its highly alkaline nature, meaning it has a high pH level on a scale that goes from 0 to 14. Anything below 7 on this scale is considered acidic, like lemon juice or vinegar. At exactly 7, you have neutral substances, such as pure water. Above 7, we move into alkaline or basic territory, where you might find things like caustic soda solution. Hope you like this content. 💡The range of colors in these fabrics is due to dye chemistry. Different dye molecules absorb and reflect specific wavelengths of light, creating shades like Coffee or Soft Beige. Small changes in dye concentration, fiber type, and pH during dyeing can produce subtle variations, showcasing the precision of color chemistry. 📷 ~ @Rainmaker1973. 💡Did you ever notice that you sweat less when you use antiperspirant deodorant? If so, do you know what's the magic behind this? Yes, it's all because of aluminium compounds. One of the most common ingredients is Aluminium Chlorohydrate. Are you curious to know how it works? Read more to know more.👇🏼👇🏼 🗣️Aluminium Chlorohydrate is a compound used in antiperspirant. We can say, it's the most important ingredient of antiperspirant deodorant. When you apply deodorant , you're engaging with an interesting and sophisticated chemical process. This compound forms an invisible gel that seals off your sweat glands, making you sweat less. Aluminum chlorohydrate doesn't entirely prevent bacterial growth but rather limits it by reducing sweat, which creates a less favorable environment for bacteria that cause body odor. By reducing the amount of sweat that reaches the surface, aluminium Chlorohydrate significantly cuts down the bacterial activity, keeping odors at bay throughout the day. Some weird intelligent people may think they can use this compound alone to stay odour free. Never ever experiment with it. Direct contact with this compound, especially in its more concentrated forms, can lead to skin irritation. It's like rubbing the red rose with a metal wire brush to keep it dust free. So, it's a better and safer option to buy and use a deodorant than experimenting with other silly things. Aluminium Chlorohydrate can also cause respiratory irritation if inhaled. Never take any chemical substances for granted. Always give priority to its properties, hazards and others as appropriate, prior to handling such substances. You must refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet of the respective chemicals for safety guidelines , issued by manufacturers. Why is this interesting? Chemistry is all around us, even in daily routines. Deodorants use this science to make our lives easier. It's like having tiny invisible helpers keeping us fresh. Once again, remember, while this compound is effective, it's essential to handle it with respect. Chemistry isn't just for labs; it's for everyone. Understanding it makes everyday products like deodorants even more fascinating. I don't know why, but It's fun to pronounce Paraffin. It makes you curious about what it really is. So, what exactly is this substance in chemistry?? Let’s find out! 🤔 🗣️💡Paraffin might sound like something you'd find in a chemistry lab, but it's actually quite common in your skincare routine. Imagine a substance that's not just a wax but acts like a hydration shield for your skin. That's paraffin for you.. So, what is paraffin? It's a type of wax derived from petroleum. Yes, the same stuff that makes gasoline. But don't worry, it's safe for your skin. Paraffin is colorless, tasteless, and odorless—It may also give a mild smell depending on its refinement— which makes it perfect for cosmetics. When you use products with paraffin, it's like wrapping your skin in a soft, protective blanket. How does it help your skin? Paraffin is an occlusive. That's a fancy word meaning it forms a barrier on your skin. This barrier locks in moisture, keeping your skin hydrated for longer. Think of it as a wax coating that helps fruits to maintain freshness by reducing the moisture loss; paraffin does the same for your skin, preventing moisture loss. In skincare, paraffin is often found in creams, lotions, and even makeup. It helps these products spread smoothly and gives them a luxurious, silky feel. Ever wondered why some skincare products feel like they're gliding onto your skin? That's because of paraffin. But here's where it gets really interesting. Paraffin treatments are used in spas. Imagine dipping your hands or feet into warm liquid wax, then peeling off a glove of hardened wax to reveal incredibly soft skin underneath. This treatment not only moisturizes but also temporarily relieves minor aches and pains due to the warmth. Some people might wonder about the natural versus synthetic debate. While paraffin is derived from petroleum, it's widely used because it's effective, inexpensive, and has a long shelf life. However, this has led to discussions about whether natural alternatives like shea butter or coconut oil might be better. It's all about what works for your skin type and personal values. So, next time you pick up a skincare product, check the ingredients list. If you see paraffin, you'll know it's there to help keep your skin soft, smooth, and locked in moisture. It's like having a little magic in your skincare routine, making every application a step towards healthier, happier skin.
