Today is the 5 year anniversary of the Covid bottom!
On March 23, 2020 the S&P 500
$VOO bottomed at -34%. Dow was -37% and Nasdaq was -30%.
I bought a TON that day including
$MKL,
$MMM,
$TROW,
$MPC, and
$CSCO, but by far the one I am most proud of is
$YUM.
Why?
The intraday swings between open and close were insane that day, on everything.
To those who say you can't time the bottom, know this... I made only ONE buy for Yum throughout all of Covid. No open limit orders waiting to be filled. This was a real-time order.
I was in kitchen and did it on my phone. Price was a few pennies above $55 and I placed order for $55 exactly. Didn't get cute and do $54.98 etc. as it was just faster to type round number. Order filled.
The stock bottomed just 5 cents lower, at $54.95, for literally a second or two, before sharply gapping back up $1.92 higher, to its closing price of $56.87.
Last time
$YUM stock was at the price I bought was 5 years earlier.
Remember, the more insane the selloff, the more insane your returns can be.
