AIxbio follows the same trajectory as systems biology. sysbio failed to deliver on its grand promise, yet ultimately became an essential part of how biology is done. Same for AIxBio it will both fail miserably and transform fundamentally.

An exciting milestone for AI in science: Our C2S-Scale 27B foundation model, built with @Yale and based on Gemma, generated a novel hypothesis about cancer cellular behavior, which scientists experimentally validated in living cells.
With more preclinical and clinical tests, this discovery may reveal a promising new pathway for developing therapies to fight cancer.

Its called systems biology, has been around for at least 2 - 3 decades and has made surprisingly little real-world impact. Maybe we are doing it wrong, I hope SysBio can work, but I doubt lessons from studying human engineered IT/CS complex systems will get us there.
