🫶Did you know? Starlink satellites have an estimated operational lifespan of approximately 5 to 7 years 🧵 The internet you use today is built on infrastructure with VERY different lifespans. Some systems last only a few years…
Others can survive for half a century. Here’s how the world’s internet backbone compares 👇 #Technology #Internet #Starlink #FiberOptics #5G #Telecommunications #TechThreads #Infrastructure

WHAT IS AN IP ADDRESS, AND WHY YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY CARE. Every device connected to the internet has an IP address. But most people don’t know what it means, or how it affects their digital life. Here’s a quick breakdown (no tech jargon needed): #Networking #CyberSecurity #TechBasics 1/ What’s an IP Address, really? An IP address is a unique number assigned to your device when it connects to a network. It does 2 key things: • Identifies your device • Tells the network where to send data Without it, you don’t exist online. 2/ There are 2 main types: IPv4: The OG version (e.g., 192.168.1.1) 32-bit, supports 4.3 billion addresses IPv6: The upgrade (e.g., 2001:0db8:85a3::7334) 128-bit, supports 340 undecillion devices IPv6 is the future >>> IPv4 is running out. 3/ Public vs Private IPs Public IP: The one your internet provider gives you. It’s how the world sees your device. Private IP: Used inside your home or office. Assigned by your router. Check your IP: Public: whatismyipaddress.com Private: Run ipconfig (Windows) or ifconfig (Mac/Linux) 4/ IP Addresses Have Classes (No Joke) Back in the day, IP addresses were grouped into classes: 🔹Class A: Massive networks (ISPs, corps) 🔹Class B: Universities, medium biz 🔹Class C: Small networks (homes, offices) 🔹Class D/E: For multicast & experiments This was before CIDR changed the game (more on that soon). 5/ Bonus: What’s Subnetting? Subnetting = slicing a big network into smaller ones. Why? ✓ Improves speed ✓ Boosts security ✓ Helps manage IPs efficiently Tools like subnet masks and CIDR notation (192.168.1.0/24) tell the network what’s what. 6/ Why This Matters Every online scam, every hack, every game server, Zoom call, or crypto wallet, all rely on IPs. Understanding how IP addresses work = knowing how your digital identity moves through the internet. #Networking101 #TechThreads #CyberBasics
HACKERS, MOTIVES, AND MAYHEM: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CYBERCRIME. Not every hacker wears a hoodie. Not every attack is about money. Here’s a quick breakdown of the types of hackers, their motives, and the most common attacks happening online. #CyberSecurity #Hacking #InfoSec 1/ Not all hackers are villains. Let’s get one thing straight: The term “hacker” just means someone who knows how to manipulate systems. But their intent is what matters. Here’s the breakdown: 2/ The 3 Main Types of Hackers: WHITE HAT: The good guys. Ethical hackers who test systems to protect them. BLACK HAT: The bad guys. Criminal hackers who steal, destroy, or exploit for personal gain. GREY Hat: Somewhere in between. They might break rules but not always with malicious intent. 3/ So, what motivates cybercriminals? It’s not just about the money. Here are the top motives: ✓ Financial Gain (ransomware, stealing credit cards) ✓ Corporate Espionage (spying on competitors) ✓ Hacktivism (political or ideological goals) ✓ Revenge or Personal Grudges ✓ Notoriety (bragging rights in underground forums) 4/ Common Cyber Attacks You Should Know These are the real threats you could face: • Phishing: Fake emails or sites that steal your info • Ransomware: Locks your files until you pay • Malware: Software that spies or damages • DDoS: Floods a system to shut it down • Social Engineering: Manipulates you instead of tech 5/ Social Engineering = Low Tech, High Damage Some of the worst breaches? Not caused by fancy code. Just someone clicking the wrong link or trusting the wrong “support rep.” Cybersecurity starts with humans. 6/ How to Protect Yourself (Basics): Use strong, unique passwords Don’t click random links or download shady files 🔸Turn on 2FA everywhere 🔸Keep software updated 🔸Educate yourself (starting with this thread) 7/ Final Word: Hackers aren’t going away. Some are here to help. Others are here to exploit. Understanding their motives and methods is your first line of defense. #CyberCrime #EthicalHacking #CyberAwareness @Rollup_News "rollup"

Since becoming a Vibe Coder, there's one sentence I find myself saying more than anything else: "Come on man, work!" Whether it's a script breaking, a build failing, or an AI model not responding the way I expect… That sentence becomes my debugging mantra 😅 Sometimes, coding is just you, your laptop, and a silent plea to the console gods. Can you relate? 👉 If you're a Vibe Coder too, drop your go-to line when things break. Let’s turn debugging into a shared ritual. #VibeCoder #DevLife #CodingHumor #Debugging #SoloDev #TechThreads #AIcoding
