I bought thatbook when it came out and the pages are falling out. Eisner and Miller “talking shop” is truly priceless. They discuss the difference between ‘drama’ (Eisner’s take) and ‘melodrama’ (Miller) is beyond-words insightful. That book’s worth a million dollars.
Yes, pinochet used it, latin america got trained for torture by a CIA agent who is an ex-french torturer that used all kind of torture in Algeria and in indochine, but mainly Algeria. He did a book in the way to torture Algerians. Thatbook was used by cia and mossad.
I read #thatbook (didn't spend money just rode the high seas) it's honestly not bad like I thought. Seeley has a surprisingly witty voice for Rogue, she's portrayed as an actual character with heart and she and magneto are mostly played platonically apart from one minor panel
like diaspora or diaspora adjacent ppl will have these nationalist or whatever narratives fitted through whatever lens they want and people will run with it as though it's historical fact like with #HER and #THATBOOK
