I voted for the tilemap editor, there is a lot of room for improvement - even to say it already has improved a lot. I think you should get inspired by the popular TiledMapEditor project, would love to see that!
*Even though* I'm temporarily without internet (hmph) - thought I'd post a couple of screenshots to show what I've been working on, offline. Introducing #isometric#TiledMapEditor support. Needs optimising but you can see how we got it working.

Managed to load more complex sample data into #serpent#TiledMapEditor renderer. Using the `tiled-maps` repo, results look pretty darn good. Would be better if scaling was in yet but hey, one thing at a time.
