An insightful panel discussion on “Empowering Society and Governance: Unlocking AI for Viksit Bharat 2047” brought together leaders from banking, industry, government, entrepreneurship, and academia to explore how AI can drive inclusive national development.
The panel featured Smt. Gayathri Devi Jayan, Founder – AIDVICE and President, Applied AI Association (India), and Former Global Head, L&T Technology Services; Shri Manjit Nath, Head, e-Gov Mission Team, Meghalaya, Digital India Corporation, MeitY, Govt. of India; Shri Rajib Kumar Phukan, Head – Asset Analytics and Reliability, Digital Transformation of Refinery Operations, Numaligarh Refinery Limited; and Dr. Viswanath Venkatesh, Eminent Scholar and Verizon Chair of Business Information Technology at the Pamplin College of Business, Virginia Tech.
The panelists highlighted how AI can catalyze India’s progress toward Viksit Bharat 2047 by boosting innovation, productivity, and data-driven development. They stressed the need for AI self-reliance through strong indigenous research, infrastructure, and talent. The IndiaAI Mission was noted as a key driver enabling this self-reliance by democratizing access to AI tools and resources. The discussion also emphasized the role of academia in adopting AI and preparing students to work alongside intelligent systems. Overall, the panel emphasized that AI would accelerate India’s advancement toward the Sustainable Development Goals, and that the IndiaAI Mission is central to India’s journey toward Viksit Bharat.
