Today, I joined the family, friends and residents of Nyaani-Wamunyu in laying to rest Stanley and Kennedy Muthungu, two young brothers whose lives were tragically cut short in the Machakos Roundabout (Old Naivas) incident of 31st May 2026.
As we mourn, let us remember that no disagreement, suspicion or moment of anger is worth a human life. We must embrace tolerance, strengthen our emotional intelligence, and uphold the sanctity and value of every life.
I also call upon leaders, security agencies and stakeholders to speak with one voice whenever such tragedies occur. Timely sharing of information and unity of purpose can help prevent misinformation, panic and further loss.
Further, there is an urgent need for a comprehensive and orderly registration of all boda boda riders and their areas of operation to enhance accountability, safety, monitoring and to eliminate any criminal elements hiding within the sector.
May the souls of Stanley and Kennedy rest in eternal peace. Let their passing be a painful reminder that justice, order and humanity must always prevail over mob action and violence.
