Watling Street, one of Britain's most important Roman roads running from Dover to Wroxeter (276 miles), is still traceable as the modern A5 and A2. The Fosse Way, stretching 231 miles from Exeter to Lincoln, remains visible as the A46 between Lincoln and Leicester, the A429 in Gloucestershire, and the A37 in Somerset. Ermine Street, which connected London through Lincoln to York (190 miles), now forms portions of the A1 and A10.
