back when i was working at cloudfoundry around 2013, we stood up a public "free" service... within about 30 seconds the crypto mining found it. that was a fun whackamole until we very quickly developed automated systems to squash it.

I interviewed with Brian back in January 2015. He asked me some dumb question about optimizing elevators. I bonked it, because I thought I was interviewing to help build his products. I was coming from Pivotal/CloudFoundry and from having spent years building a massive scale p0rn site. Nice enough guy, but large ego and even back then didn’t know what he was doing. You can scale RoR, but why bother when there are other tools that just work. It is amazing that after all these years, they still suck at building for scale. Really sad to see.

I was working for CloudFoundry when it came out. We had something called warden that did the same thing, but different experience. Told my peers to check this thing out and they ignored me. It was many months later after docker took off did they eventually implement docker instead. I don’t mind docker. The dx is awful, but whatever. With ai now, it can write all that code for us. I am starting to feel less religious about tools. “Whatever ai knows best” is the winner. That’s why @dstackai is so good. @andrey_cheptsov is focused on being ready for it all to just run through him.
