Incredible that SNP Councillors take pride in demolishing that in the city that so recently lost another fine building to a vape shop fire. What a disgrace. And as for the proposed replacement 🤢

This building, or at least the beautiful facade needs preserved. We lost the grand Hillhead Burgh Hall, when it was knocked down to be replaced by the utterly hideous Hillhead Library building - this needs saved.

Absolutely miserable news. I know what you mean by "losing far too many..." but this is active, wanton destruction of the city's heritage.

Do you know what the proposed replacement look like? It's the west end so at least the rich people will kick up a stink about it being out with the local character

Disappointing, but not entirely surprising. We are losing far too many of our historic buildings. If there is anyway I can help in the future let me know, would be interested in getting involved.

But will the city maintain that street and sidewalk when those trees have roots that tear things up?

378 objections, How many live in the West End? The fact the thousands who live there have not objected to demolition seems a bit biased on your part. Did you Object to new Student accommodation round the corner? Another good idea from the Uni.

Beauty endures. Meanwhile...
St Peter's Church, Elgin Avenue is closing due to "building related issues and funding challenges." Can anyone shed some light on this decision? This is a new Church, replacing the original Victorian building (where Thomas Hardy was married) in the 1970s. Announcement below. 1/2

Quite big trees for a very narrow space.

I’ve seen some lovely old churches turned into flats but I imagine it must cost a mint.
