I think this is a bit short seighted and the drops in prices from most coins are either to:
- The token being initially overvalued
- General market conditions
Buybacks on HYPE work great, because the coin is both 'immune' to market conditions and priced fairly.
Most crypto coins are still in it's infancy, the entire market just trades as a beta for BTC most of the time.
Buybacks will work when the market is done pricing assets the 'right' way and when ALTS aren't as correlated to BTC anymore.
But I think ultimately we will need new regulation and guidelines that holds teams accountable to their 'tokens' as companies are to their shareholders. As long as we don't have that, we will always have an opaque line between the crypto company and the cryptocoin where misalignment can/will exist.
