Like decarbonizing the auto industry, bringing internet to underserved communities, donating unblockable internet for Ukraine’s defense, giving disabled people some freedom back with brain implants - stuff like that? The trillion is the result of doing those things, things which needed to be done with successful businesses because no amount of philanthropy can make changes on that scale. You may have your causality backwards

Logistics: The #FIFA26 transport strategy centers on electric and hydrogen fuel cell fleets, decarbonizing the connection between fans, teams, and venues. 🚌🔋 #CleanTransport

Good grief.....what the hell do 'disabled vets' have to do with Elon Musk helping the blind to see, quadriplegics to control digital devices through thought alone, manufacturing electric vehicles, decarbonizing the atmosphere, restoring space travel, and making the internet and speech available across the globe?

We have been decarbonizing energy for 500 years! Wood-->coal-->oil-->gas Each step up this "energy ladder" was less pollutive and about 30 percent less carbon intensive. Burning natural gas, for example, emits virtually zero particulates, sulphur dioxide, and extremely low nitrous oxides, and half as much CO2. Also, thermal efficiency improved, from 1% with the Newcomen steam engine, to over 60% with a combined cycle gas turbine: risknprogress.substack.com/p… This is why environmentalist laws that protect the status quo are harmful; we were going in the right direction, we just need to go faster.

Making electricity is becoming cleaner across the U.S., China, and the EU.

MGE Energy Inc. $MGEE operates as a stable regulated utility monopoly in Wisconsin with a resilient customer base insulated from severe economic downturns. To drive future growth, the company is executing a multi-billion dollar capital investment plan focused on decarbonizing its generation fleet through major solar and battery storage projects. Supported by an exceptionally strong balance sheet and a fifty-year streak of dividend increases, this defensive asset offers a compelling valuation for income-oriented investors despite recent equity dilution. Will their aggressive pivot toward renewable energy infrastructure ultimately translate into outsized long-term returns for shareholders?

Elon has won at helping humanity because he is smarter and thinks bigger than other humans. YOU can feed your neighbors if you are so inclined. But real help comes from manufacturing electric vehicles, decarbonizing the atmosphere, aiding quadriplegics, helping the blind see, restoring space travel, making the internet and speech available to the poorest among us across the globe....

In ethical world people are worth based on their added value. Elon is not perfect, but heck, he added so much value to the world. Decarbonizing auto industry, reusable rockets for space exploration, returning mobility and restoring blindness to blind and paralyzed people...

He’s spending capital on space flight, satellites, AI, decarbonizing cars, and I’d venture that these investments reduce disease, hunger and homelessness to a greater degree than performative government redistribution and grift. But again, critical reasoning capabilities required

The reality is much weirder than "the left won". What actually happened with the actual Left (not to be confused with contemporary or historical, mainstream Democrats or Liberals): - the Left never liked space. Google "Whitey on the Moon". - the left made economic justice a requirement for stopping climate catastrophe, explicitly breaking with the tech solution community (see Thunberg's Time editorial). - the left flipped on freedom of speech in the last few decades or were never into it (depending on faction). - the left adopted the age old strategy of personalizing politics with its anti-billionaire strategy (shifting from a failed anti-corporate strategy), and that put Elon, specifically, in the crosshairs. From then on, saying anything good about Elon or his companies was forbidden since he became the Evil Supervillain who was paradoxically also incompetent and not responsible for anything his companies produced. It's not meant to make sense, it's meant to short circuit the brain and go straight to the "other fear" reflex. It's a political strategy, not an ideology. As for helping quadriplegics, everyone seems to have bought in to redesigning our built environment around their disability rather than making them able in normal spaces. When you have that much money and regulatory weight invested in working around something, it creates a subtle pressure not to solve the underlying problem, even if everyone would benefit. (See also child seats vs the latest auto-tensioning seatbelts.) Biden, who is definitely not a Leftist, happened to be openly and slavishly pro union, and specifically pro UAW, at exactly the worst possible time for decarbonizing transportation. Biden has stated he owes his political career to the UAW. Other than Bernie, who is ideologically pro union, no other Democrat, including Harris, would have been as bad on this issue wrt Elon and his companies. But the days of union members voting for pro union politicians are mostly over, thanks in part to Trump and MAGA being so popular among the fundamentally conservative ranks of major industrial unions like UAW. It's likely that left of center politicians will realize that over the next few election cycles. But that specific damage is done, and not by the left. It was done by pure political patronage that exists in every political faction.

You're doing the shafting. Elon is putting us back in space, decarbonizing the auto industry, restoring free speech online, and helping the paralyzed walk again. You're not just a leech, you're an active force of evil, while he makes the world a better place.

He did so much good for humanity, I wish him as much money as he can get. Restoring human speech and blindness with Neuralink. Decarbonizing transportation and saving peoples lives on road. Colonizing space and providing unbiassed AI. Hope he can scale that further.
