@iva_momcheva just gave a great and inspiring invited talk titled "What is astronomical data science anyways?" at the #dotastro event at ESAC with some great advises for entrants into the Data Science world and an invitation to Astro Hack 2024! Cc @esascience
Big shoutout from Peter Coles to the library staff at @MaynoothUni who provided a lot of support to the Open Journal of Astrophysics. #dotastro#librariansftw
New experimental feature of @esascience ESA Sky is a Virtual Assistant: you can ask questions, e.g. "what is a spiral galaxy?" or say "show me a spiral galaxy" and it will display it in ESA Sky. Neat!

This afternoon we'll get a demo & tutorial for 2 awesome @esascience projects at #dotastro: ESASky (sky.esa.int) and Datalabs (datalabs.esa.int), a science platform that allows scientists to work closer to the data.
There's still time to sign up for our next #dotastro event at ESAC in Madrid (23-26 April) - we're close to the deadline and have a great list of participants already, but we have space for a few more people. Send us your interest form docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F…
#DotAstro is open to all career stages, and is genuinely the most welcoming community - so if you have any interest do apply, especially if you want to learn new skills.
Wonderful chatting with the amazing @govender today at #AAS243 reminiscing about #dotastro of the past and chatting about the @astronomy2024 - which I am so looking forward to!
My first time at a @dotastronomy conference was a blast! Got to talk about #BlackInAstro and hack on learning embroidery 🪡 from @ashpags amongst so many other fun things! #dotAstro
Lots of great people to meet at #dotAstro, both old friends and new. It's been also great to get back into the big picture outlook of why our work in archiving #astronomy data is important, instead of the minute details day-to-day work frequently entails 😉
For #dotastro we did a survey after 1 years of conferences. The results are summarized here: ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/20…. I’d encourage all conference organizers to examine or consider the tangible benefits to their participants!
