I love all my ecomm friends on all sorts of different tech stacks…but I’ll say it again: Get on Shopify or get left behind. The gap widens weekly.
Commerce is where this becomes obvious. The moat isn’t the model. The moat is the learning loop built on top of merchant context. Every interaction makes Sidekick smarter. Every outcome creates new signal. AI with context is useful. AI with context that compounds is transformative.

The coaching industry is 10 years behind all the others. If you want to make millions easily, just look outside it. Ecomm businesses know the importance of imagery and multiple touch points. Car companies know you need to build trust before selling something for thousands of dollars Real estate agents know that you financially qualify people before the sale Tesla sells cars through their website And dentists see multiple patients every day without needing to announce every time they get a new one. Looking outside your niche will help you in your niche.

Ok fair. However at the time I saw plenty online businesses fail majorly in a market gifted to them by Covid. During lockdowns I offered local business pro bono ecomm. Those who took advantage did well and those who couldn’t get their shit together failed and some closed for good

That's not how markets work. During ecomm race in early 2010s, many competitors were equally funded (even some niche ones). If Sarvam proves a business case, then many more AI labs will get funded. VCs after all wouldn't want to miss out.

Tbf Shopify did it the hard way. As a developer I can say they made a lot of mistakes along the way, but they persisted in an uncertain and rapidly evolving industry while other ecomm platforms gave up. Loser is not a word I’d use for them.

from having a little bit of experience in ecomm: 99% of people dont buy stuff that is recommended by ads, but that 1% buys a fucking shitload of stuff ads recommend, because they're really dumb. With google analytics (and fb/meta, but I think google's is better), you can see exactly how profitable your ads are very quickly, and companies would run them if they weren't profitable
