You need to be fingerprinted, which you can do at one of the kiosks these days, at several local gun stores. Once in file, if you buy from the same people, you don’t have to resubmit them for subsequent purchases. The second is getting online and starting an ATF eForms account. I’ve been fingerprinted several times for different employment, so I didn’t mind.

If your Form 1 was submitted after March 20, 2026, we will not respond to a request for a status check. Form 1 status can be found in the applicant’s eForms account and will not change from SUBMITTED/IN PROCESS until it is processed. If your Form 4 was submitted within the past 45 days, we will not respond to a request for a status check. The status of a Form 4 cannot be seen by the transferee; it can only be seen by the transferor in their eForms account and will not change from SUBMITTED/IN PROCESS until it is processed. If your form is eligible for a status check based on the above timelines, please reply to this email with your permit control number and submission date in the subject line of your email. The reply email should include your name, transferee name (if different), and form type (Form 1, eForm 4, etc.) for each application. Specialists are no longer assigned to NFA applications until FBI-NICS has returned the background check with a Proceed or Deny result. Anyone (not just lawyers) can send one, and many people do it themselves without an attorney. • Impersonating a lawyer or law firm crosses the line into illegal activity. Spent two hours fighting with eforms only to discover the whole problem was because we swapped first name/last name on the transforee portion of the data input and we both missed it in review consistantly for TWO FUCKING HOURS award.
