The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) successfully hosted its 13th Academic Advisory Council (AAC) on January 9, 2026, bringing together eminent academicians, policymakers, industry leaders, and global experts to deliberate on the Institute’s academic, research, governance, and institutional development priorities.
The 13th AAC commenced with welcome remarks by Prof Madhav Pathak, Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering, IITGN and Prof Vaibhav Tripathi, Assistant Professor, Cognitive and Brain Sciences, IITGN. The participants were then addressed by Prof Rajat Moona, Director, IITGN, who outlined the institute’s evolving academic vision and emphasised the importance of sustained excellence, interdisciplinary and global engagement in shaping IITGN’s growth trajectory.
The Council’s deliberations focused on key thematic areas including Curriculum Adaptation for Emerging and Strategic Technologies, Enhancing Institutional Research Productivity, Roadmap for Internationalisation and Sustaining Growth While Preserving Institutional Culture.
The discussions explored integrating rapidly evolving domains into academic programmes, strengthening research output and impact, expanding global collaborations and student mobility and developing strategies to preserve IITGN’s culture of openness, interdisciplinarity and student-centric learning amid expansion.
The meeting brought together distinguished leaders from academia and allied domains who provided valuable external perspectives and strategic inputs.
The 13th AAC provided a vital platform for reflective dialogue and strategic guidance, reinforcing IITGN’s commitment to academic innovation, impactful research and responsible institutional growth.
The 14th Leadership Conclave, scheduled for January 10, 2026, will further build on these discussions by focusing on the Institute’s short-medium and long-term strategic priorities including governance frameworks, institutional branding, staff empowerment and extending IITGN’s presence beyond the campus.
