@reactnative updated their docs, saying @Expo font is deprecated and to use React Native vector icons. Now using React Native vector icon, some libraries like '@react-native-vector-icons/feather' keep failing. However, Ionicons works. Why not stick with the Expo Vector icon?

Give it a better design. Go to Pinterest, find really nice layouts and give it to you use and tell Claude to use ionicons and gsap animation library

also, I had to abandon the SVGs. Used Expo’s builtin IonIcons which had some of the basic vector icons I needed like the sun & moon for the theme switcher button, and the X for deleting items from the list. Might come back for them later?

I used React icons once. Each time i used it their website’s UI pissed me off. Lucide UI soothes me, but i have to use Ionicons for my native apps, they just work better for this use case.

I have used Lucide icon for a year now, and has served me dearly. While this will remain my go-to Icons library, Ionicons will become my new favorite for mobile app projects. Why? Ionicons provide seamless use of icons in outline and filled states, situable for tabBar style

Would very likely fix that. We often just wrap <Ionicons /> or sometimes whole segments with RectButton. I didn’t know it would traverse all children if you don’t provide a label or if the first child isn’t an accessible view. The performance impact is HUGE.
