This first video appears to show individuals openly calling for violence against Christians and expressing support for the recent attacks on Orthodox Christians in Arsi, in the Oromia region of
#Ethiopia. The speakers make these statements themselves on camera.
The first man appears to state that a Muslim should kill 2,000 Christians to prove his commitment to Islam. He further appears to claim that anyone who kills more than 2,000 Christians will receive a reward and have their name written in gold. He then says that he is going to train because he has more people to kill.
The other individuals in the video appear to express similar sentiments, celebrating the burning of churches and suggesting that further attacks will follow.
We are seeing increasing levels of hatred and extremist rhetoric on social media. Instead of taking action against individuals who promote violence, the Ethiopian government is often accused by critics of targeting those who speak out against the killing of Christians and the burning of churches. Many activists and community members, including church members, priests, deacons, and community leaders, report being harassed, beaten, imprisoned, or silenced for raising these concerns.
There are also individuals living in the United States who openly call for violence. Videos and other evidence can be provided if necessary. Anyone who advocates the killing of others, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or background, should be investigated and held accountable under the law.
The international community, governments, and law enforcement authorities should act to stop this violence, hatred, and barbarism before it is too late.
