The opposite also holds true. If future EV is negative, increasing variance becomes favorable.
1) A weak Spin player should be more willing to take marginal spots to increase their variance, which will increase their win%.
2) A losing zoom player should play more breakeven spots, since it slows down their hourly losses. This is counterintuitive, but folding instantly moves them into the next -EV hand.
3) A microstack UTG is facing a blind increase next hand that represents a significant chunk of their stack. They should open wider from UTG than a non-FGS sim assumes because of the impending -EV threat.
4) A gambler gets a matched casino deposit bonus for playing slots. They should play the highest variance game they can find to complete the rollover requirements. (Generally casinos lower the RTP on high variance games for this reason though)
