MARCOS ASSURES UNINTERRUPTED PHILHEALTH SERVICES DESPITE 2025 BUDGET CUT
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured the public on Thursday, December 19, that PhilHealth services would remain unaffected despite lawmakers rejecting the state insurer's proposed 2025 budget.
"I would like to just assure everybody, huwag niyong inaalala na mababawasan ang serbisyo kahit na kanino. Para sa senior, para sa mga mahirap, para sa middle class, walang mababawasan kahit isang kusing," Marcos said.
The bicameral conference committee earlier disapproved PhilHealth's proposed PhP74 billion budget for next year, citing the insurer's PhP600 billion in unspent funds.
Marcos reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maximizing benefits for Filipinos through PhilHealth.
"Dadagdagan natin 'yan in 2025. Mas dadami pa ang magiging serbisyo na ibinibigay ng PhilHealth. Mas lalaki pa ang magiging payment na ibibigay sa insurance claim," he added.
The President emphasized that PhilHealth's operations and coverage for seniors, low-income families, and middle-class members would remain robust despite the funding cut.
