I was mostly responding to Greg above. The "direct talkocity" idea is quite interesting on its own, too. It needs details (organizational and technical) and interest (a big community willing to participate), but it's worth a test.

With the ranking of talks being live and available for everyone to see, you will always have the potential talks to be selected visible. Also, if they want to see a talk, they just need a Ruby passport to vote for it and influence the outcome. Something like what @RubyUnconfEU does, but in a digital form and relying on the passports.

I miss those. They were always fun - and, contrary to the commercial ones, affordable for those folks that attend out of personal interest and pay out of pocket as opposed to just being sent by their employers. Good times.
