Cultural memesis explains it pretty handily. Even the Nordic/Germanic rustics from the upper Midwest have more in common culturally with with the scotch Irish folkway than they do with their urban or suburban co-ethnics.

One thing I have seen on here is that (outside of maybe the Nordic/Germanic Midwest) Northern rustics aren't really that different from southerners.
Northern rustic attitudes clearly group with southerners more than suburbanites.

- it has ~33% lower energy density than petrol. You WILL see worse fuel efficiency. You WILL feel a drop in power. And long-term? what about Pre 2022 cars which are barely E10 compliant?
Rubber seals, injectors, fuel pumps quietly degrading in engines never engineered for aggressive ethanol blends.
Reliability concerns that only show up after a few thousand kms.
And the poor car buyer? Told this is "green mobility" while silently absorbing every cost.
Also, what will happen to resale values of older non E20 compliant cars when the blend goes upto E25, E30 Etc in a couple of years?
Worse still, buyers have no choice at the pump but to buy E20 fuel. No option for E10 or E5.
A mandate without consumer protection, without transparent pump labelling, without honest disclosures really feels rushed.
The environment matters. Energy security is paramount too. But so is durability, efficiency and basic honesty.

There is this bizarre assumption amongst South Indians that a) there is a composite personality type called “North Indian” b) this type of people are hysterical rustics, village bumpkins who have never travelled outside their states, live in an insular world untouched by civilisation and are pure vegetarian c) their entire existence revolves around beef-its existence or lack thereof in the world. This is often contrasted with the more worldly, cosmopolitan South Indians whose tastes in food and culture are superior. North India is a very large region with a very VERY large population-we have all kinds here- just saying. Many of us-horror of horrors have even visited countries where beef is the mainstay of the diet. And believe it or not survived without losing our shit. 🙄
