A fun afternoon creating a demo on the Spartan 7 embedded development board, which will be supplied with our SpaceWire Codec and RMAP IP cores. The board is included with core purchase, as sometimes seeing things on hardware and being able to easily scale the demo can be very powerful in your development process. I just finished finally getting to the bottom of an FPGA issue with some third party bought in IP, the vendor tools (RT Pro ASIC3) were not providing much insight as to the issue. I had lost a good few hours to it this week, and wanted to give my clients at least some good news this week. I took a different approach and threw the elements concerned through Blue Pearl Software which showed me in a few minutes what the issue was. It turned out to be a port which was declared on the IP core (encrypted) which was missing from the documentation and example instantiations. #fpga #spaceelectronics #engineering #embeddedsystems #electronics
