I teach an upperdivision course called "Russia and Its Neighbors" and recent events have naturally prompted me to make some changes, not the least of which involves decentering Russia despite the title of the course.
I now regret that in 10 yrs of teaching a brief module on the disintegration of the USSR in my post-Communist politics class, I mentioned the chain only in passing and as part of a Russia-centered story. The way we teach Eastern European politics is overdue for a revamp.
