During the Intellectual Property Conference ahead of World IP Day 2024, a panel of experts from the

@kta_law, and the Entrepreneur Ecosystem discussed the critical role of intellectual property (IP) rights in driving innovation, creativity, and economic growth in Uganda.
The panel, consisting of Ms.
@shirley_glirdys, Mr.
@ageony, Ms.
@Bonita Beatrice Nanziri, Mr.
@hakizaronald, and moderated by Ms.
@Cathrine Akankwasa, emphasized the significance of protecting IP in unlocking the country's creative potential. They highlighted various forms of IP rights, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, utility models, trade secrets, and industrial designs, stressing the importance of understanding and utilizing these rights to foster innovation.
Participants learned that the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance plays a crucial role in promoting innovation and IP management. Through training and sensitization, the Ministry educates innovators about the importance of IP. It provides unwavering support for registering and enforcing IP rights, ensuring that innovators in Uganda have a strong ally in their journey towards success.
