TLDR: Fertilizers increase ag productivity, but they also pollute drinking water, especially in poorer areas.
This week in Ag Data News, we have an excellent student contribution from @hadachek on nutrient pollution. 1. Agricultural fertilizers generate highly productive crops, but they cause environmental damage by leaching nitrates into water systems. asmith.ucdavis.edu/news/wate…

Thinking a lot about why I object when people imply eating meat is wrong. @JaysonLusk put it into words better than I could. Upon which ethical framework is it immoral to eat meat but not immoral to drive a car? And maybe people would rather cut GHGs other than by changing diet
Are people "over consuming" meat? Here's how to have a burger without guilt jaysonlusk.com/blog/2019/3/4…

"Whether a beer is brewed with corn syrup or not might matter to agricultural economists, but it’s not really a factor for health." Sadly, wouldn't be the first time ag economists cared about things that no one else did newfoodeconomy.org/bud-light…

Educational moment, corn is just a feedstuff for the yeast that makes the alcohol (ethanol; CH3CH2OH). Fermentation is great. You aren’t drinking corn syrup regardless of the beer you drink. Currently enjoying the pride of TX: Shiner Bock.
.@BudLight America’s corn farmers are disappointed in you. Our office is right down the road! We would love to discuss with you the many benefits of corn! Thanks @MillerLight and @CoorsLite for supporting our industry.

School Funding's an essential commitment to state's future. Our state funds our schools primarily through a base tax for each citizen. This allows for quality education border to border. Thanks to Deb Hadacheck @dhadachek for her wise insight posted in the Belleville @BTelescope
