I think Todd Marshall is one of the best examples I have seen of an artist painting time accurate dinosaurs and still making them look wholly unique. He has a super strong yet plausible design language, and I think that is something many paleoartists should be inspired by
Replying to @ARGAtheropodfan
If a cool retro-esque design is what the original manga is after, taking inspiration from stuff like Todd Marshall's works would be so much more creative and impactful than...what's actually drawn.

There's a missed opportunity, when Dragons: a Fantasy Made Real introduced us the sound mimicking of the forest dragon. Imagine if the mountain dragon mimicked human speech to trick the knights, and this inspired the stories of talking dragons, like Fafnir (art by John Howe).

Released in 1975, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi was an animated television special directed by legendary animator Chuck Jones and based on the classic story by Rudyard Kipling. The story follows a brave mongoose who takes on two deadly cobras to protect the family that rescued him. For a generation of kids, it was one of those rare animated films that felt genuinely intense. The stakes were real, the villains were terrifying, and you couldn't help but root for Rikki-Tikki every step of the way. More than 50 years later, it's still remembered as one of the finest animated adaptations ever put on television. Did you watch Rikki-Tikki-Tavi growing up?

Finally got around to reviewing the HC Dryosaurus. A very nice figure as far as sculpt, coloration, and articulation go, but I really wish they gave us an articulated jaw rather than the swappable jaw pieces. youtu.be/nXi3OnWh2IE

The Pharaoh. Spinosaurus aegyptiacus - a new private commission. The client requested that it be depicted as a shoreline ambush predator, rather than a more fully aquatic animal - a choice which very much fits with my own personal view of spinosaurus. (1/2)

Found a clean, unedited intro of Prehistoric Park without the logo or cut before you see the park gates. These episodes are on YouTube with these extra bits at the end of the videos, no idea where they got them from. See the original video here: youtube.com/watch?v=CV11s0h9…

Ya know, it really upsets me with how close we got to coexisting with Phorusrhachids. Art by @SerpenIllus

Here's something I don't see every day. The other day, I was surprised and blessed by the presence of this five-lined skink. I've only seen them one other time, and that over ten years ago and never at my house. This little cutie looked great, with beautiful colorations.

you gotta love old classic speculative biology in fantasy fantasy used to have so much speculative biology but now it seems less so folks more interested in factions, economics, societies when fantasy biology done properly can add so much to a creature

It is International Dinosaur Day! This day is set aside to celebrate these prehistoric animals and to encourage education in paleontology. To celebrate, I am proud to add a replica stegosaurus tail spike to the museum.

Quick and easy painting of this grizzly bear. Just some dry-brushing on a dark base coat, and then some detail work.
