One thing about Mardi Gras parades in New Orleans is the amount of plastic waste from the beads that get thrown. So we decided to recycle them into some mangrove artwork! #MardiGrasMangrove #mangrovesareawesome

Thanking my family, which always came a priority higher than science or publications. Thanking my students & researchers for their excellent works and for being a source of inspiration. Now it's time to consume the prize: a sandwhich PhD grant for a researcher from the global S.

Good question Neil.. species site matching is core to successful mangrove restoration. The current image fail the test... thus destined to fail..
Replying to @danfriess
Hey as an eager layman, I’m curious. Why destined to fail?
Good observation Dan, mass planting without following simple DOs and DONTs of mangrove planting will definitely lead to failure. Citizen science is needed to educate public where and when to plant mangroves. We have a duty to promote good mangrove restoration tools.
You know we face an uphill battle when an article promoting global ecosystem restoration is summarised by a photo of mangrove restoration that is destined to fail theguardian.com/environment/…

indeed it is a disaster in the oil spill mangroves of Niger Delta. I participated in the IUCN's Niger Delta Panel for remediation of oil spill areas of the Delta. Concerted effort is needed to bring back Niger Delta. A final report is here: iucn.org/theme/business-and-…

Numbers sells more than area.... i have seen the same metrics used in Senegal. A good question would be survival afterword. Otherwise this ends up replacing one habitat with the other. It is essential to conduct baselines.

Well done Team KFS for leading efforts to conserve our mangrove forests. Indeed mangroves and associated blue carbon ecosystems are protect life and property, support fishery, and provide harvestable products to millions along the coast.
Mangrove forests🌴🌴🌴play a critical role in protecting the hinterland from adverse ocean conditions🌊 They sequester carbon four times more than terrestrial tree species, provide habitat for crustaceans🐚, support biodiversity where diverse fish 🐠🐟🐡species feed and multiply.
