my bet: AWS hosts US Gov assets on GovCloud, and the agreement includes active red-team threat monitoring and mandatory disclosure/reporting to the customer. so, in rendering these services, they pushed Fable 5 adversarial evals to the limit, hit the jailbreak, and uncovered new zero-day vulns. and by contract, they were obliged to report to the customer (US Gov) before/instead of the vendor (Anthropic). pure speculation, but probably not far-fetched.
I’m confused why Amazon shared the jailbreak with the USG and not Anthropic (or at least not letting Ant know that they were doing this) Amazon has a large stake in Anthropic and this seems to weaken Amazon’s (financial) position Am I missing something?

I can’t believe Anthropic comparing their product to nuclear weapons 800 times backfired on them. I am shocked

Fable isn't the first. In 1999 the department of defense blocked exports of the PowerMac G4 for crossing the 1 gigaflop threshold. Steve Jobs turned it into an ad.

I had already wondered how Apple manages to perform inference at Google while simultaneously protecting their privacy, essentially their unique selling point. The answer: the heaviest requests run on Blackwell B200s inside Google Cloud, with NVIDIA's Confidential Computing encrypting the data while it's processed, so neither Google nor Apple can see it. "NVIDIA Confidential Computing provides a hardware-based security layer for accelerated AI workloads. The technology protects data while it’s being processed by isolating workloads in trusted execution environments and enabling systems to cryptographically verify that the infrastructure has not been tampered with before any sensitive data is sent to the server."

I’m so damn excited to be in New York City for a month this summer. Already thinking of staying longer. Haven’t spent more than a week in the U.S. in over 5 years. 🇺🇸🥇

OMG 😂🤡😂🤡 No point in ever reading The Verge again either. Way to kill a tech blog by trying to make it into woke political slop too.

Is a VPN enough to trick iOS 27 into showing me the Siri Waitlist? Phone is setup with a US account but still not seeing the waitlist option from here in Brazil...

JEFF BEZOS JUST EMERGED FROM STEALTH WITH A $41 BILLION AI STARTUP CALLED PROMETHEUS $12 billion raised. Valued at $41 billion. Coming out of stealth today. The backers: Bezos personally, JPMorgan, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, DST Global, and Arch Venture Partners. The mission: do for engineering and manufacturing what large language models did for text. Bezos is calling it an "artificial general engineer." Instead of training on words from the internet, Prometheus ingests data from the physical world to accelerate the manufacturing of skyscrapers, smartphones, jet engines, and everything in between. In Bezos' own words: "Something that today was going to take 100 engineers 10 years to build, if you can change that to taking 10 engineers one year to build, you're just going to get way more things built." This is Bezos' first CEO role since stepping down from Amazon in 2021. He's co-leading it with Vik Bajaj, former Google X executive. (Source Semafor)

If you are trying to get off the Siri AI waitlist, this method worked for me: To enable the feature on your Mac Open Terminal on a Mac using the same Apple ID as your iPhone and run the following command: sudo mkdir -p /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/ && \ sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add :EnhancedSiriWaitlist dict" /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/GenerativeModels.plist && \ sudo /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Add :EnhancedSiriWaitlist:Enabled bool false" /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/GenerativeModels.plist Enter your Mac's administrator password when prompted. Restart your computer. Siri should now be enabled on your Mac. To sync to your iPhone Wait about 5 to 10 minutes, then restart your iPhone. Note: Ensure both your Mac and iPhone are signed into the same Apple Account and that your iPhone is updated to #iOS27 @markgurman

davidedwardc On macOS 27 beta, use this Terminal command to bypass the new Siri waitlist: sudo defaults write "/Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/GenerativeModels.plist" "EnhancedSiriWaitlist" -dict-add Enabled -bool NO Restart your Mac after running it. This enables the enhanced Siri via the feature flag workaround.

Recently, we purchased one of each Anthropic/OpenAI subscription plan and randomly ran long horizon coding tasks until we exhausted the weekly limit. It's widely believed that a $200/month plan maxes out at ~$2000/month worth of tokens (assuming API pricing). However, we found that the subscriptions are actually far more generous. (2/4)
