I'm incredibly honored to lead the amazing team at @EIAgov. Given the complex and evolving energy challenges we face as a nation, EIA data and non-partisan analysis have never been more important.
I'm so grateful to the Senate for confirming Joseph DeCarolis to serve as @EIAgov Administrator. Now more than ever, Americans need timely, relevant, and accurate information about the U.S. energy sector. energy.gov/articles/statemen…
How do we account for technological uncertainty and game-changing technology developments in energy modeling?
Join us next week for this exciting panel with @ErinBakerEnergy, Arnulf Grubler, and @ElephantEating, which will be moderated by @JXJohnson.
The @EIAgov Administrator (currently me😀) now has a twitter account! Now that I’ve settled into my role, I plan to use twitter to communicate our work to a broader audience.
Congratulations to my friend and @NCStateCCEE colleague @H_C_Frey on his Senate confirmation! As a former environmental scientist at @EPAresearch, I know he will do an amazing job.
We are closing 2021 by highlighting some of our biggest accomplishments of the year.
First up: We published an interactive mapping tool showing U.S. energy #infrastructure, disruptions, and technologies. go.usa.gov/xeM38

This paper led by @candiselhenry documents a long overdue modeling exercise: initialize different energy models with identical input data and see what happens.
As modelers, we tend to focus on adding more complexity to better represent the real world. This analysis is a reminder that we also need to pay attention to the core model equations as well.
In the not too distant future, I'd love to see a set of archived datasets for capacity expansion models, similar to the IEEE RTS dataset for reliability analysis, which can be used for benchmarking and calibration exercises.
Super excited to see these @EIAgov energy modeling provisions in the infrastructure bill.
I especially like (14): "striving to migrate toward a single, consistent, and open-source modeling platform, and increasing open access to model systems, data, and outcomes..."
