It is going to be a LONG fire season it appears. Issued the first Fire Weather Watch of the year. Beat the old record for earliest (that we could find) by 2 days. The year? 2000. That was the start of several nasty fire seasons in the 2000s.

Kyle and I had a really challenging existence for many years. But we luckily took the time to figure out our differences and that was something he instigated with a conversation in his bus around how we each managed our racing teams. I was super eager for us to get on better terms. But it was he who made the effort for that to be possible. We did some media together also to laugh through some of the things we put each other through many years ago. Most recently we had even been discussing him running my Late Model at Wilkesboro this summer. He seemed extremely happy and we had planned to meet up next Thursday to get his seat to the shop. He laughed over the idea of his fans and JRM fans having to cheer in unison during that race. Kyle was one of the greatest drivers in NASCAR history. No one can deny that. But he was also a father, a husband, brother, son, and a friend to many. My heart is broken for the Busch family. I will never be able to make sense of this loss but I am thankful that we had found a way to become friends.

World's fastest tornado today? Satellite tornado near Deer Creek/Braman, Oklahoma, was absolutely racing across the field around the larger parent tornado. 🌪️💨 This thing was moving incredibly fast and may be a contender for one of the fastest-moving satellite tornadoes captured on video. Watch how quickly it dances around the main tornado — unreal storm chase footage. 📩 For licensing, contact: Curtislergner@gmail.com #Tornado #SatelliteTornado #TwinTornadoes #DeerCreekOK #BramanOK #OKwx #StormChasing #StormChaser #SevereWeather #ExtremeWeather #TornadoVideo #OklahomaWeather #MonsterTornado #ViralWeather

OU meteorology and EE schools (via the Advanced Radar Research Center facility) are joining forces to deploy the first entirely digital, polarimetric, phased-array Doppler radar. This mobile unit can detect lightning directly, and the ice-particle electrical polarization and reorientations that precede the lightning. ou.edu/news/articles/2026/ma…

Asking for some help please from anyone. @spann @MissAshes92 @jamesaydelott @WeatherNation @weatherchannel @foxweather Spread the word that calling (on phone) NWS offices with radar interpretation only adds to the fog of an already dynamic situation. Speaking for myself.

Classic example of sidelobe contamination of velocity in tornado warned storm in Major County, OK. The high spectrum width, blocky velocity data, and low cc are strong signals of SLC. @weatherbrains @spann #okwx

Insanity on steroids. As much as I hate to say it, congrats to Montana State. It was finally your time.
Montana State wins the FCS national championship in overtime on an extra point. Insane game. Bobcats blew a 14-point lead in the 4th quarter, but blocked an Illinois State FG late in regulation and then blocked an XP in overtime.

A bitter pill to swallow, but the Bobcats flat out ran over the Griz in the 2nd half. The Cats might actually have a shot to win the national title. On to next year!

This is 2025’s version of the infamous squib kick. The next play was the punt that Grayson Miller botched, and it was all downhill from there.
No, THIS was the turning point in the game for Oklahoma and Alabama. Sooners have gone cold since

Script was flipped from the game at Tuscaloosa. Too many mistakes when you had chances to get back in the game. Tough time for Sandell to go cold but at some point those things happen. On to next year! #Sooners

Special evening honoring the life and career of Dr. Howie Bluestein, who recently retired after 48.5 years of teaching and groundbreaking research at the University of Oklahoma. I am incredibly grateful for my time with Howie, during which I learned an immense amount while being able to fulfill my childhood dream. He is truly a kind and genuine person and was an incredible mentor to me during my graduate studies. Huge congratulations to Howie on an illustrious career and a well-deserved retirement!

The first EF-5 tornado in the U.S. since 2013 has been confirmed after 3 months of research and surveying of damage in North Dakota. This tornado occurred on June 20th in Enderlin, ND, and had max winds near 210 mph. The wind tipped over fully loaded grain cars and carried a full tanker car almost 500 feet. The last EF-5 was on May 20th, 2013, in Moore, OK.
