Floods have devastated communities in Afghanistan, worsening an already dire situation. The EU is providing an additional €50,000 to support the @IFRC_DREF response, bringing total 🇪🇺 funding to €225,000 and helping more families access cash aid, shelter, water & healthcare.

Our thoughts are with the communities across southern China affected by the devastating floods since mid-May 2026 - lives lost, families displaced, and homes and infrastructure damaged in Chongqing, Hunan, Guizhou, Hubei and beyond.

We sincerely appreciate the swift and coordinated response of the Red Cross Society of China at all levels, rapidly mobilizing emergency mechanisms, dispatching relief supplies, and supporting evacuation, shelter, and medical needs in close coordination with government efforts.

Some 5,000 livestock perished, causing a devastating economic blow to herder families' already fragile livelihoods. We are bracing for more severe snowstorms this weekend. Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi) has struck the Philippines, affecting over 2 million people. Flooding and power outages have displaced tens of thousands. @philredcross is providing food, first aid, psychosocial support. @IFRC has launched 18 million CHF appeal to reach 285 000.

Last year alone, disasters affected over 146 million people. Both developed and developing countries are impacted by disasters. It’s the most vulnerable who are hit the hardest. The Disaster Law treaty, agreed by the UN last December, can change that by making sure everyone is protected in disasters.
